Permanent Perimeter Flag Lines

Permanent Perimeter Flag Lines

Permanent perimeter flag lines are a fixed warning line system installed at the edge of a commercial roof to mark the boundary of the fall hazard zone. The system uses stanchions anchored to the roof surface with flag lines or rope strung between them at the required 6-foot setback from the roof edge. Brightly colored flags attached to the line make the boundary visible to anyone on the roof.

Under OSHA 29 CFR 1926.502, warning line systems are an accepted form of fall protection for roofing work and maintenance activities on low-slope roofs when used correctly. A permanently installed flag line system means every maintenance visit starts with fall protection already in place, rather than relying on contractors or service personnel to bring and set up their own temporary systems. This reduces compliance risk and removes a common source of OSHA violations.

Sentry Roofing installs permanent perimeter flag line systems that meet current OSHA requirements for stanchion spacing, line height, and flag placement. We anchor the stanchions in a way that does not compromise the roof membrane or create new leak points.
